Excalibur provides tools and functionality to assist with building applications. The framework does NOT guarantee compliance with any law or regulation. Your compliance obligations remain your responsibility.

Compliance-Assistance Features​

The framework includes features that may assist with:

  • Audit logging and event trails
  • Event sourcing for immutable history
  • Data protection workflows
  • Encryption and security patterns

However, proper implementation, configuration, and independent validation remain your responsibility.

License​

The Excalibur framework is distributed under a multi-license scheme. You may choose to use the software under any one of the following licenses:

  • Excalibur License 1.1 — source-available; grants broad use, copying, distribution and derivative works, with two restrictions: you may not resell the framework itself, and you may not offer it to others as a hosted or managed service
  • AGPL-3.0-or-later — GNU Affero General Public License
  • SSPL-1.0 — Server Side Public License

Run my application as a SaaS product for my customers?Yes. Hosting your own application is not hosting the framework.
Ship the framework inside my application to customers?Yes, as a component of your application, keeping the license notices.
Modify the framework for my own use?Yes. Mark modified files as modified.
Sell the framework itself, rebranded, repackaged or as a competing framework or SDK?No.
Offer the framework's capabilities to others as a service — a hosted outbox, event store, dispatcher or operations dashboard, or a platform where customers run their own handlers on it?No.
